The cover features athlete Tyrus Jones who plays for Duke's basketball team. The jersey he is wearing is all white with blue letters and the sport illustrated titles is all blue with white outline. The words "ONE.DONE." going across the page are in big white letters. The color theme is white and blue because of Duke's color scheme.

Articles Included:
Throughout the magazine there are many articles on basketball and baseball. On pages 4-9, it features an article on the Cubs vs Cardinals. This article has mainly pictures that take up the page and short descriptions of the teams. Then on pages 28-38, there is an article that talks about Duke's players. It begins on the first two pages of an action shot where Jones goes in for a lay up. This large picture will attract any readers when flipping through the pages because it is colored in white and red with big bold letters going across the top that say "DEAL WITH THE DEVILS". Finally, on pages 48-53, it talks about Mike Napoli and his life story. It features a picture of him holding a bat on the first page in black and white then the rest of the pages it goes into deep detail about baseball and his journey.

Table of Contents:
There is only one photo featured on the table of contents and it takes up a majority of the page. It is of a hockey team and fans that have their hands in the air and seem to be celebrating. The photo and words are in black and white which gives it an older feel while the page numbers are in orange to add a bit of color.

Ads:
At the beginning of the magazine on page 3, there is an ad for Volvo. It shows a picture of two new cars and a short slogan for their company. On page 23, there is also a car ad but for Honda. It shows five different types of Hondas in styles and colors. I also shows a man at the bottom right corner with him saying "Huge deals on almost anything for your garage". Finally, there is an ad on page 25 for Axe. It shows a picture of three white bottles of body wash and underneath the picture it says "For a Fresh, Invigorating clean". The article features these ads because people who are attracted to sports could also have an interest in cars. The target audience is probably more towards men. They also included the Axe because it is a popular brand for men they use so it is promoting their new body wash.

Mid term submission

I developed my pages by myself for my article. I knew I wanted the pictures to wrap in the text and I wanted both athletes pictures to be in their article. I wanted an intro paragraph with the intro picture into the softball complex so they went together. I started playing around with placement and text boxes and eventually found what worked for me. I created the cover from inspiration of another sports magazine. I started with a picture of Taylor in the center then added text boxes around the sides and filled it in with info about the player and other articles.

Schedule interview and developing questions

For my article, I am going to interview Taryn Darley and Taylor Sawyer. They play on the Sarasota High Varsity Softball team. First period, I have with Taryn Darley and scheduled to interview her on Monday, December 18th. Fourth period, I have with Taylor sawyer and scheduled to interview her also on Monday, December 18th. The first question I asked them was for them to tell me a little bit about themselves. This gives the reader an idea of who I am interviewing in the context of the article. I then asked "How do you feel this upcoming season will turn out?". I wanted to ask this so they could express their comments and concerns for the new season. Another question I asked was "How do you feel about the new coaching staff?" Some people feel different about a new coach joining so I wanted to compare the different opinions from last years coach to what the new coach has in store for them.

Schedule photo shoot

I will take pictures of Taylor Sawyer and Taryn Darley for my photoshoot. I scheduled to photograph them after practice on Tuesday, December 11th. This made it easy for us to access jerseys so I could take pictures of the girls in uniform.  We also had access to the field and dugout where I was able to take pictures of softballs and the entrance where it says "Home of the Lady Sailors".

Flat Plan

The articles I decided to include in my flat plan consist of topics related to sports and health. Mostly softball related articles were included like famous players, different high schools, and popular college teams. Brandon's article is a second edition of  mine which features the topic mostly on soccer. I also included some soccer articles in my magazine to attract the readers on softball and soccer. I featured some pro basketball players and teams to add a variety of sports. I also added nutrition and eating articles for anyone who wants tips or facts on how to live a healthy lifestyle.

Table of Contents

In the creation of the table of contents, I decided to keep it clean and simple. Down the left side of the page is a line I drew to create a box looking effect around the text. On the other side, I put a half line towards the bottom of the page to separate the picture from the words. I decided to use word art for the "Table of Contents" title and change the color to orange because my theme was mostly orange since the sailors color are black and orange. I used one picture which was a bucket of softballs because the main articles featured softball players. The articles I listed were the ones about Nike, Adidas, nutrition and health, softball and soccer. I thought these articles would be most appealing to the readers since its a sports article.

Cover Template

When creating the cover template, I decided to keep it clean and simple. At first, I had conflict when deciding the title of the article. I then chose "Sarasota in Action" because it sounds interesting and could attract readers. Softball is also an action sport and my main article features Sarasota High Softball players. Through the middle of the page, I put "hard work and dedication" when talking about what athletes must put in to get results back. I use bold so it would stick out more than the other words.

Scouting Locations for photo shoots

For my location, I chose to take pictures on the softball field and around it. The front picture on my magazine is the front of the dugout as you walk through the gates. It says "Home of the Lady Sailors" which is a welcome to people who come to the games so I wanted it to be a welcome picture when people read my article. I chose to take pictures of Taylor Sawyer and Taryn Darley in their uniforms because it gives the reader a more visual of what they look like before a game fully dressed. I also took pictures of a bucket of softballs because my article features softball players and they use softball to play.
