Project Selection- Final Decision

I have decided i am going to do the magazine project. I will be collaborating with a fellow classmate Brandon Hernandez. I believe this project will suit me better than film because i am not very tech savy. Our magazine is going to be based off of Sarasota High Sports. I am currently in softball and he is currently in soccer. We are going to take pictures from both sporting activities and collaborate on a magazine together.

Project Selection-Film

From watching Ferris Bueller's Day Off, i have became interested in different camera angles and talking to the camera. As a viewer of the movie, i found it interesting that Ferris seems to be talking to me like i am next to him. As a producer, i would find struggles in creating the same effects without making it awkward but i do think it would be interesting and fun to play with.  A skill i could contribute well to the film would be creating the overall story line. I am pretty creative and like coming up with new ideas that would help to create a story. Something i would struggle with would be editing the film together. I am not very experienced with the technical part of creating a film. The only part i would know how to do would be to record.

Project Selection- Magazine

When putting together my own magazine, I think I possess creative skills that would help with designing the pages. I like re arranging things in orders that fit together and color contrasting to make the colors fit well together. A challenge for me during the project would probably be putting together the information from all of the sources and creating my own writing. I also struggle with focusing, so when it came to an interview I wouldn't be able to focus as much on what the interviewee is talking about. While watching the newsroom, it taught me many things about sharing information that i didn't know before. Now when i write my magazine, i will be sure to provide information from credible sources and make sure that more than just one person has said it. Before, i didn't realize how important it was to have a second or third source when releasing information. This is very important in the media company so popular websites or new stations are not releasing false information.
